photo booth pictures

The last photo booth I went into was at a diner in Texas. My baby sister was four years old and had never seen one. I dropped in the coins and we went inside. She sat on my lap, and as the camera flashed in our faces, I tickled her ribs and we made piggy snouts. I kept the piggy snout picture and gave her the other three.  I’m not sure if she still has hers, but I still have mine, and looking at it reminds me of a simpler time in my life. It was 1996, and I haven’t seen a photo booth since.

Recently my husband wanted me to see a French film called Amelie [Le Fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain]. He said I reminded him of Amelie a bit, and he thought I’d enjoy her character, he was right. The movie was wonderfully quaint and creative, with a charming narrator, hilarious characters, and subtitles; I loved every minute of it. I won’t spoil any part of it for you if you haven’t seen it, but to say the least it sparked something in me. I sat mesmerized, eyes glued to the screen; I don’t think I sat back on the couch the whole time.

In it, though, was a photo booth, seeing it brought back to my mental faculties so many fun memories and that same sense of nostalgia you get when you find something from your childhood like your old roller skates. You know the ones you won three speed skating titles with, the ones you had those rainbow pom poms on. Oh come on… you know the ones you were wearing when you couple skated with Brad Hubbard… aaaahhhh Brad. Yeah, those roller skates. Those were the days.

Where was I? Oh yes, the photo booth on memory lane. That brings me to the point of this post… This is La Photo Cabine. It’s a superbly done online photo booth that I could tell you more about, but I don’t speak French. I can tell you it’s loads of fun though. All you need is a web cam and some funny photo booth faces (additional persons to share your absurdity with are completely optional), and no, you don’t need to know French to operate it. And bonus score, It lets you save your photos for free! Go on! Have fun and take as many as you like!
