at home with a hanasaurusrex

and the oscar goes to.. bingo!

First of all, I can NOT believe Inception didn’t win for Original Score. Seriously Academy… Social Network??!! I haven’t seen Social Network.. yet… I’m not really a huge movie fanatic, but someday I’m sure I will—thank you Netflix—and I just seriously doubt its soundtrack will over shadow the music from Inception. Seriously doubt!

Aside from that, though, the night was a great success ’cause we had an Oscar Bingo party! Woot Woot! Complete with popcorn and JujyFruits, friends and the kind of sidebar sarcastic humor that you’d expect from a group of non-famous people, slightly bored, sitting around watching famous people who are also slightly bored. I mean, really, why was James Franco even there last night? That was clearly Anne Hathaway’s night. Arm candy? He looked pretty wasted to us.

Speaking of arm candy…

Wait! Did you say “Oscar Bingo?”?! Yes, I know, what a fantabulous idea!

I found the free printable cards online, served up in my daily email from Thrillist, complete with a button you could click to randomize the order of the pretty hilarious and somewhat down right “damn girl!” mini Oscar scenarios they had created in each square. Whatever it was had to happen before you could claim the square in your quest for a BINGO! I had a bunch of old stamps that we used to blot out the spaces.

I thought at first there’s no way anyone could win because the situations they’d created were pretty far-fetched, but—snap!—with the help of the George Clooney looks amazing free space—clearly a given—I actually got one space away from having bingo in two different directions!

It was tons-o-fun, thank you Thrillist, and of course, by the end of the night I did get a little silly with my Twizzlers…

What have I been up to lately? Oh, so sweet of you to inquire! Well, besides the tedious and all-time consuming task of product development for my shop—that I swear will be opening soon; I’ve been knitting and crocheting.

Now yes, I know I live in Hawaii. And yes, I know, one might think that I would have absolutely no use for this fabulously squishy, soft, warm and cozy cowl here. Yet one never does know when she might find herself in one of the not-so-few establishments who wildly abuse and misuse their A/C privileges here (ie: Safeway, Starbucks, Long’s). People, the tell-tell sign is the condensation on the INSIDE of your glass windows. I mean, like it’s raining inside your place of business.

Now I know it’s often balmy here, especially when the trade winds take their bi-annual two week vacation. But really?! 60° Central A/C is just unnatural.

So it turns out I can make use of my knits, YAY! :D
That makes me smile.

This makes me smile too.

I was feeling pretty crappy yesterday but I could sleep no more. So I got up and vegged in front of the television with my yarn and a cute little book that my friend Bethany loaned me called Creepy Cute Crochet.

Creepy and cute, indeed!

creepy cute crochet ninja

These cute little monsters crochet up so quick and I enjoyed the challenge of modifying the patterns to suit my desires… not that they have to be modified to work.

But before I knew it I had two little creepy companions all stitched up, Ninja for my husband and Nosferatu for me!
